I never realized how tired I was of having the screen door slam every time I came into the house until I found out there was an alternative. On a trip to Italy, I visited a company that was a pioneer in the retractable screen industry, and couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of that before! Retractable screens are only there when you need them, and don’t slam or get in the way of a beautiful view. It didn’t take me long to start importing retractable screens from Italy, and my customers LOVED them.

These days, we sell Bella Retractable Screens that are Italian-designed and fabricated in the USA, and they get more popular every year. We’ve expanded our offering to include screens for windows, doors, lanais and even extra-wide motorized screens for garages. I made a decision early on to sell my screens on the merits of their quality and reliability, not on always having the lowest price. As Benjamin Franklin said, “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of a low price is forgotten.”
